Domain renewals and expiry

Your domain is registered with your own registrar, so renewals are paid to them. They don't appear on Nexcified invoices.

Stay renewed

  • Turn on auto-renew at your registrar and keep the card on file up to date.
  • Keep the registrant email address working. Registrars send renewal notices and ownership checks there.
  • For domains connected to your Nexcified hosting, we also keep an eye on the expiry date and email you 30, 14, 7 and 1 day before it expires, as a reminder to renew.

If a domain expires

  • Your website and email stop working, usually within a day or two.
  • Most domains can still be renewed at the normal price for a short grace period (often around 30 days, depending on the ending).
  • After that, the domain may enter a redemption period, where the registry charges an extra fee to recover it.
  • Finally it's released, and anyone can register it.

Renew at your registrar

  1. Sign in to the registrar where you registered the domain.
  2. Find the domain and select Renew, choosing one year or more.
  3. Your website and email come back once the renewal goes through. Some networks take a few hours to catch up.

Can't remember where your domain is registered? Search for it on lookup.icann.org, or ask us and we'll find out for you.
